How to gain access to the UHL (Undergraduate Hardware Lab)

There are a couple requirements to gaining access to the UHL in the Baskin School of Engineering

  1. Become an official IEEE member (Click the “Join” Tab above)
  2. Fill out this questionnaire -> https://goo.gl/forms/2qjpluvalcSnhApD3
  3.  Become part of the UCSC Learning Center
    1. http://learningcenter.ucsc.edu/ (Can take a couple days for account to be active)
    2. Example:
           What is the name of the person who will be using this account? = You’re Name (cruzid)
           CruzID: = sslug
           First Name: = Sammy
           Last Name: = Slug
           User’s Phone Number: = ###-###-####
           User’s Email: = cruzid@ucsc.edu
           Academic Department/Unit Requiring Your Training: = Baskin School of Engineering
           Required Training: = UC Lab Safety Fundamentals
           Supervisor or Professor Requiring Training: = Gabriel Elkaim (elkaim) or Russell Evans (rwevans)
  4. Complete the “Laboratory Safety for Research Personnel” e-course (Available in UCSC Learning Center)
  5. Complete the Laboratory Hazard Assessment Tool (https://ehs.ucop.edu/lhat)
    1.  The UHL manager will have to invite you to the LHAT group for the lab
    2. You will NOT get an email about LHAT access. Give 5-7 days for LHAT access
    3. Email IEEE chairs Nicholas Sandoval (nrsandov@ucsc.edu) or Ivonne Fajardo (ipfajard@ucsc.edu) with any questions
  6. Once you have completed the above steps, you must now issue a request for room access.
    1. The Room is Jack Baskin Engineering Building,140 honor,140,734
    2.  This is the link to submit a room request (https://keys.adc.ucsc.edu/adckey)
    3. The supervisor is the current UHL manager (Current: Devin Riley)
    4. Conditions for Access
      1. Current IEEE
      2. Completed LHAT Safety Training
      3. Submitted Room Request
